Sociolinguiste et compositrice, Erell Latimier travaille -dans les champs artistiques comme universitaire- la question du langage dans ses dimensions poétique, esthétique et politique. Elle questionne les processus de marginalisation, d’exclusion et d’émancipation dans ses textes et compositions. Écrivaine à l’origine, elle a rapidement considéré le son comme médium principal pour traiter le texte en performance live et en composition studio. Entre grains analogiques et numériques, elle fait entendre la face sonore de la langue à travers les textures et timbres d’une voix polyphonique. En live, le dispositif low-fi devient orchestre de K7 et dialogue avec la matière numérique plus composée, pour créer un contraste de boucles sonores, d’échos, et de souffles.

Erell Latimier is a composer and social scientist. She has been working on language and sound materialities since 2006. She has produced several compositions released by various music labels: L’Impatience directe des corps on Glistening Examples (2019), Titania tapes (2022), stay still on Kythibong (2025).
Focusing her approach on the polyphonic process, Erell Latimier has also created various sound works involving an interplay of tones and the multiple dimensions of the voice, both in terms of recording and broadcasting.
She is also a researcher, holder of a PhD in language sciences (defended in 2020), and a lecturer at the Nantes School of Design (Nantes), INSEI (Paris).
She is involved in many ways in artistic events in France and abroad : reading concerts, performances, installations, broadcasts, textual and sound creation workshops, workshop facilitation, conferences, events organization.
